Activities Spilling Off the Presentation Screen

If your Poll Everywhere activities appear oversized, offset, off-screen, or zoomed while presenting. This is typically due to display scaling (DPI) differences between connected screens. DPI settings manage display scaling, and adjusting them can correct display inconsistencies. 

Poll Everywhere supports the following operating systems for optimal performance and security:

Supported OS versions

  • Windows 11 (Latest public release)

  • Windows 10 (ESU only)

    Windows 10 is only supported for users enrolled in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.

Set All Displays to the Same DPI 

Helpful tip: Ensure all monitors or projectors connected to your device have consistent DPI settings to avoid display scaling issues.

Microsoft frequently updates the location and functionality of the DPI settings in Windows, which can make managing display scaling a challenge. Poll Everywhere activities are optimized for 100% scaling across monitors to minimize compatibility issues.

Step 1: Type “display settings” into the Windows search box.

Step 2: Select Change display settings from the menu.

Step 3: Scroll down the right side of the Display window until you see Change the size of text, apps, and other items. Using the drop-down menu, select 100% then close the Display window.

Step 4 Under the drop-down there is a hyperlink that will take you to advanced settings. It might say, "Custom Settings" or "Advanced scale settings". Click on the hyperlink.

Step 5 Click inside of the Custom Scaling text input, and type 100. This will prompt you to log out of Windows. Log back in and try the presentation again.

Step 6 If you continue to have issues: 1. Go back to Display Settings. 1. Type dpi in the search box. 1. Select the option "Make everything bigger". 1. Confirm that all the scale is set to 100%, and the "Sample Text" is at the lowest value.
